Assignment 8: Still Life

I had a great time with this assignment. I knew right away that I wanted to photograph my son’s baseball gear. Baseball is very important to our family – we play and watch as much as we can – and I wanted to do this as a gift for my son. I used the dark background set up since I liked the way those images turned out last week and I knew I could achieve the lighting that I was hoping for. For lighting, I relied on diffused natural light from the window next to the table set up. I took a set with some additional lighting from the side, but I thought the single light source images were more effective. In LightRoom I enhanced the highlights just a little to be sure the pieces really stood out from the background, especially for the catcher’s mask.
